The first archaeological traces in our territory date back to the Roman era and several documents demonstrate the presence of a population even in the medieval period when the main inhabited center was the village of Montepagano, which still preserves traces of ancient medieval fortifications.
After various dominations and the passing of centuries, Roseto was born on May 22, 1860 when the Chapter of the Recettizia Church of Montepagano divided the territory into shares, ceding the marina of which it was the owner. Hence the original name “Le Quote” which then became “Rosburgo” in 1887 and finally “Roseto” in 1927.
The coastal area was requalified, fishing became one of the main activities, and the first industrial initiatives, the intensification of trade and the development of agriculture date back to the early twentieth century.
Since then, our beloved town has increasingly developed its attitude towards hospitality and tourism, becoming one of the most frequented seaside resorts on the Abruzzo coast.
